Interlibrary Loan Introduction

What is ILL?

ILL stands for Interlibrary Loan. ILL service at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) provides students, faculty, and staff with access to research and instruction materials that are not available in the Kraemer Family Library, Prospector, or Mobius catalogs.

Who is eligible for ILL Services?

University of Colorado Colorado Springs and all University of Colorado:

  • Current students, faculty, and staff (Students must be currently enrolled and have a valid University ID)
  • Retired UCCS faculty, staff, and listening in students

Who is not eligible for ILL Services?

  • General public and other college and university patrons
  • UCCS alumni

Individuals not eligible for ILL services at UCCS should contact their local public library or university for Interlibrary Loan services.

What type of materials can I request using ILL?

  • Articles from journals, books, reports, case studies, and other research documents
  • Loans are items such as books, DVDs, sound recordings, maps, etc.

What materials might not be available through ILL?

  • Entire volumes or issues of journals
  • Very rare items
  • Electronic Books
  • Course Reserves

How long does it take to get my article requests?

Average delivery times for articles is 1-2 business days but delivery time can take longer based on the date and availability of the source in which the article is published. 

How long does it take to receive my loan requests?

Average delivery time for loans is 7 to 10 business days but may take longer based on the availability and publication date of the item.
