Biology Research

Save and Cite Your Sources

If you are looking for a tool that helps you save the sources you've found for a research project and cite them while writing a paper, consider using Mendeley. It is a type of program called a citation manager, which can help you stay organized and format citations in any style you need to use for a class project or journal submission.

There are other other tools that do this, but Mendeley is the only one that librarians at UCCS can help you with.

Common Citation Styles for Biology

Always use the citation style that your professor or the journal you are submitting an article to asked you to use.

Some commonly used citation styles in biology are:

  • CSE (Council of Scientific Editors)
  • APA (American Psychological Association)
