Kraemer Family Library Community Visitor Guide

Welcome to the Kramer Family Library, this guide will provide an overview of services available to community members not affiliated with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. 

The Kraemer Family Library has ten public workstations that are open to community members. On-site access to our collection of electronic databases is available. Public patrons with a valid library card are welcome to check out materials from our physical collections. More information regarding our policies may be found below and on the KFL website.

Resources for Visiting Students

Students visiting the Kraemer Family Library may access out physical collection and check out up to five items at a time. Online resources may be accessed while in the library.  

Student inquires are welcome at the Research Assistance Desk, we are more than happy to field your questions and help welcome you to the library.

Borrowing Items

Any local resident with a Colorado Library Card (Colorado public library/school card), such as a Pikes Peak Library card, and a valid ID, may check out books, movies and more from the Kraemer Family Library. You are limited to five items out at a time and books can be loaned for a three week period and movies for a one week period.

In addition to showing proof of identification as specified, anyone registering with the library's system will need to fill out a form at the Circulation Desk.

Computer Access and Printing

Computer Access

Due to licensing restrictions, community members and visitors cannot access the Library's electronic resources off campus. However, anyone can physically come into the Library to access these resources. There are computers designed as Public Access computer stations. These computers do not require a login and can access most of the electronic resources available to UCCS affiliates. Public Access computers are located by the Research Assistance Desk  and on the third floor at the top of the main staircase.

NOTE: During periods of heavy usage, the Public Access computers have a time usage restriction. See the Library's computer use policy for more information.

Community members and visitors may also use the UCCS Guest Wi-Fi while in the library. 

Scanners and Printers. 

The Kraemer Family Library has scanners, printer and Public Access workstations available to public patrons. The Public Access computers are set to print to a Pay as You Print station next to the copy machines. To use the Pay as You Print printer, you will have to purchase a Copy Card using small bills; it does not accept coins. Learn more about scanning and printing in the library.

Visiting the Kraemer Family Library


Visitors parked in permit or time restricted parking lots on campus must pay to park. Visitor pay stations (accepts cash or credit cards) are located on the third level of the Gateway Garage, the first level of the Alpine Garage, or in parking lot 220. There are also several coin operated parking meters (which also accept credit cards) at various locations in many of the campus parking lots. Fees for visitor parking are as follows:

  • $2.50 per hour
  • $12.50 per day maximum

Another visitor parking option for is to purchase hourly/daily parking through "ParkMobile".  ParkMobile allows you to pay for parking by phone or smartphone app. To begin using this service, create your account with ParkMobile today. An additional convenience fee of $0.25 per transaction will apply.

Hourly/daily parking is NEVER valid in loading docks/tow away zones, 15/30 minute loading zones, service drives, fire-lanes or handicapped spaces (unless accompanied by a valid handicapped placard or plate). Please park in regular spaces only.

Visitors bringing buses, large vans, or charter vehicles will need to contact Parking and Transportation Services to make parking arrangements prior to their visit to campus.
