Before We Get Started

You'll be using a lot of Kraemer Family Library resources while researching your assignments. There are a few steps you need to take to ensure that your library use goes smoothly.

Set Up Your Library Account

You can't check out any books (or request books from other libraries) until you take your ID card to the circulation desk and activate your account.

Install the VPN

You can access electronic resources 24/7 from home...as long as you are logged into the Library VPN (Transporter). Install it on your home computer as soon as possible.

Illiad Interlibrary Loan

If you cannot locate the materials you need through Kraemer Library or Prospector, you may request them through ILLiad, our interlibrary loan service. This service can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.  The service is free in most cases for all UCCS students, staff, and faculty! See Interlibrary Loan Policies for more details.

NOTE: Journal articles are almost always sent electronically. Books, dissertations, microfilm, and other print materials willbe shipped through snail mail and can take two to three weeks to arrive. Do your research early!

To create an account in ILLiad, just click on the ILLiad link and select the box that says First Time Users (see screen shot below). Read the registration information and then select the link at the bottom of the screen for first time users. Fill in the form that appears.
